The German-American Society of Tulsa (GAST or GASTulsa for short) was informally founded in 1979 when a group of native-born Germans decided to host the first-ever Oktoberfest in Tulsa. The success of the event lead to the group continuing informal organization activities until January1980 when GAST was officially formed as a social organization. In 1981 the German-American Society Arts Association (GASAA) was formed as a not for profit charitable organization. The addition of the association brought about more growth and activity at GAST. Together the two entities comprise the German-American Society of Tulsa as it is known today.
With over 40 years of activity in Tulsa the organization boasts a wide range of activities and events for the public and membership alike to enjoy. From language classes to cultural events and fun parties to intimate conversation groups, it is a unique place for all to enjoy. We hope you will join us at an event or become a member and a part of the GAST family.

Events & Activities
GAST hosts a wide range of activities, functions, and events all year long. What started humbly has grown substantially over the years to include a little something for everyone. Some events are member only. Please check out our events and activities page for an in depth look at each activitiy!
Membership at GAST is very much like a large, ever changing family. Many members are friends, neighbors, spouses, congregation members, members of other clubs and activities, and children of older members. Even those who are fresh into the Society form strong bonds with many they meet through various activities and events. As a social organization members get to participate in many parties and activities which are not open to the public. There are also more opportunities for members to volunteer in unique and dynamic ways. Many members, still active and beyond this world, have left mark upon GAST through their dedication and passion.
Though the Society began with native-German's, you do not have to be German to be a member at GAST. Nor do you have to speak German. GAST welcomes all who wish to join in on the fun and become a part of the organization.
